Too often I see cleavage and exaggeratedly drawn female figures. Objectification of Women: Ok my biggest pet peeve with this anime is the unnecessary fan service. However it's super hero fighting- so no blood and guts just KO's or villains disappearing into fairy dust. It blends action, plot, strong characters, romance, and friendship better then almost all animes out there.įirst of all, be aware, the premises is magical guilds protecting the world, so violence is to be expected. When I finished watching it- I wished there was more. This is one of the finest animes out there. However, it is a great quality anime that teaches the power of loyalty, friendship, courage, perseverance, and sacrifice. Based on your background and worldviews, some of this stuff could be questionable. Over all, I will say it's a parent's decision. However, the show could also be considered a comedy, often making funny jokes, making fun of people, and just funny little commentaries during fights. Also, the show at times can be very emotional, using flashbacks and other things (like a killer soundtrack) to create moods of sadness, regretfulness, anger, inspiration, fun, or anything else. They all have separate, not cliche personalities that are fun to watch progress. All the characters have interesting backstories and histories. In the guild that is the show's namesake, it is establishes that the whole guild would gladly go to war, or even die, for even one of their members, because they're family.Īs for the quality of the show, it's very good. The show teaches loyalty, friendship, courage, and standing up for your friends. There are also cool headed, calm, fun, and friendly characters. But they are always shown as that being a fault. Yeah, there are hot headed, arrogant, evil, fighting characters. A small thing could also be that there's a girl that's kind of an achoholic, but it's not a big deal. I'd say the actual biggest problem you would have would be if you are against magic (because that's what the whole show is about) or demons (because they fight them a lot). However, there is very little blood, and not many characters actually die. The whole show theme is fighting, and most people do it to solve problems. On the topic of fights, I will admit that there is a lot of it. The guy that takes off his clothes? He is almost always still wearing boxxers that are almost as big as shorts, and it isn't random. Nothing worse than you'd see in a public pool. Yes, there is some "fan service", but not a huge amount. They don't know what they're talking about.

The review common sense gave is completely wrong when you actually watch the series past the first two arcs it begins to all make sense and you can see what I'm talking about. It's an emotional show with a lot of different characters who are amazing on their own but together are Fairy Tail.
Also every member of Fairy Tail has a past, something that brought them to Fairy Tail and keeps them there. There is also violence but to me it's more just them being who they are, which just so happens to be people who can handle themselves in a fight. It's not random and there is a reason for it that makes sense. Also they mention one of the guild member loses his clothes randomly. The fanservice is relatively minimal and used more comically than anything else. Fairy Tail isn't solely about Lucy either it's about the guild as whole. Yes Lucy does use her appearance to her advantage but she is also some one who is incredibly strong when pushed to her limits. Reading what common sense wrote about Fairy Tail makes me wonder how far they actually watched. Which Side of History?
